If you like Angry Birds even a little bit, you’ll like Monster Island. You may very well end up loving Monster Island. Monster Island takes all of the fun game mechanics from Angry Birds, and believe it or not, mixes it with a little bit of the old school miniature golf. With moving obstacles to test your timing and a variety of strategies to approach each level with, it may feel like you’re on the putting green while you’re launching monsters through the air.
Speaking of monsters, there are a number of different monster characters with different abilities for you to add to your arsenal. The blue guy explodes after it stops moving, the yellow guy explodes on first contact, and the purple guy sticks to everything it comes into contact with -- and there are many more with totally different skills. With all kinds of nooks and crannies and multiple uses for each character, it feels even more like solving a puzzle than Angry Birds. You don’t use a free motion slingshot, but instead preset your power and direction before launch -- so each shot is more calculated. Who knows, maybe like Angry Birds, they’ll be selling everything from goofy Monster Island hats to pillow cases when the holiday season comes around...We wouldn’t be all that surprised if that happened.
